This was confirmed by Western Cape police on Monday evening, who said they found the girl in a shack in Town Two, Khayelitsha.

"The intelligence-led integrated operation saw forces descending on the township where the young girl was found. She has since been sent to a doctor for a medical assessment," said Sergant Wesley Twigg.

Twigg added that no arrests has been made as yet, but SAPS detectives are questioning several individuals in the hopes of successful arrests.

Western Cape's Police Oversight & Community Safety MEC, Reagen Allen, welcomed the news that Dekhta was found 'safe and unharmed.'

"As of [Monday night], SAPS and law enforcement agencies were still investigating the circumstances around her disappearance. Various individuals are being questioned and I trust we will soon be able to get to the bottom of this matter. I would urge communities to continue to keep Abirah and her family in their prayers and thoughts during this difficult time."
