The Cape Town High Court is considering several life sentences to the man responsible for the kidnapping, rape, and murder of eight-year-old Tazne van Wyk.
Tazne was kidnapped from her home in Elsies River in
February 2020. A week after she went missing, her body was found in a storm
water drain along the N1 highway near Worcester.
Her killer, Moydian Pangkaeker, is to be sentenced today.
He was convicted for 21 of the 27 charges against him. These include charges of
incest, rape, sexual assault, sexual grooming, desecration of a corpse, and
assault, among others.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority, there are pushing
for at least nine life sentences to be handed to the rapist and killer.
