SASSA grant recipients can withdrawal money, after Postbank fixes 'technical challenges'

SASSA social grant recipients will be able to withdrawal money on Wednesday, after Postbank confirmed that their ‘technical difficulty’ has been resolved.

On Tuesday, millions of old age grant recipients were unable to withdrew their grant at the various payout points.

In a statement, Postbank confirmed that SASSA customers using the Postbank SASSA Gold Cards will immediately be able to access their social grants money via ATM‘s and Post Office branches.

‘’The processing of the reversals of funds debited on the accounts that declined since yesterday [Tuesday] due to a system error is underway. Beneficiaries that have attempted withdrawals since yesterday [Tuesday] are urged to give this process some time before attempting any further transactions. It is anticipated that the funds will be reversed into all beneficiaries’ accounts approximately in the next 24 hours,’’ said Dr. Bongani Diako, Postbank spokesperson.

Diako said Postbank’s technical teams are working on restoring the transactions inside the retailers to full capacity as he says, they are still experiencing challenges with transactions in this regard.

‘’We apologise to our valued customers for the inconvenience caused by this incident and thank them for their patience.’’

According to Postbank, the technical challenges was an isolated incident, and not related to the validity of the Postbank SASSA Gold Cards.

‘’SASSA Gold Cards remains valid as a means of accessing social grants payments despite the expiry date written on the cards until Postbank replaces the cards within the cards replacement period granted to us by the Reserve Bank,’’ said Dr. Bongani Diako, Postbank spokesperson.
