Three people, which includes two minors, have been shot and killed in Khayelitsha, on Saturday afternoon.
According to the police’s Andrè Traut, unknown gunmen
entered a barber shop in Gqrwarha Street at around 4p.m, and opened fire at the occupants of the premises.
‘’Two juveniles aged 11 and 12 and an adult aged 30 were
killed, while three juveniles aged between 11 and 15 sustained injuries and
were admitted to hospital for treatment,’’ said Colonel Andrè Traut.
The police spokesperson said a 5-year-old later succumbed
to injuries sustained death.
The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. The
motive for the triple murder, says Traut, are yet to be determined.
Meanwhile, the Western Cape’s Police Oversight &
Community Safety MEC, Reagen Allen, condemned the incident.
‘’This murderous incident is horrific and angers me deeply,
particularly with a number of young people sensibly murdered and wounded. These
heartless criminals have no regard for life. We need to ensure they are swiftly
arrested so that a conviction can follow. Life can never be this cheap. The
SAPS should employ every ounce of their intelligence.’’
