Police patrolling Vrygrond following ongoing shooting incidents

Police are patrolling in the Vrygrond and surrounding areas, following ongoing shooting incidents.

This comes as a woman was shot and killed in Drury Road, in Vrygrond, on Tuesday. Police confirmed that they are investigating a murder case.

‘’Police members responded to a complaint of a shooting and upon arrival on the scene they found the victim with gunshot wounds to her body. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack is yet to established. The unknown suspect/s fled the scene and are yet to be arrested,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Western Cape police spokesperson.



Twigg says officers will remain on the ground until the situation has died down.

‘’Police deployments together with other law enforcement agencies are on the ground following sporadic shooting incidents in the Vrygrond and surrounding areas and will remain on the ground until we are satisfied that the area has been stabilized. Daily crime prevention initiatives are conducted in a bid to combat gun violence and bring perpetrators of the law to book.’’
