What was meant to be his last school year turned into tragedy, as a 17-year-old scholar was fatally shot in Phillipi on Thursday morning.
Police confirmed that they are investigating a case of
murder.
‘’Samora Machel police registered a murder case for
investigation following a shooting incident on Thursday morning, 22 May 2025,
at about 08:40, in Oliver Tambo Street, in which a 17 year old school learner
was shot and fatally wounded. Police members responded to a complaint of a
shooting and upon arrival on the scene they found the victim with a gunshot
wound to his head. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel,’’
said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Western Cape police spokesperson.
Twigg said they are investigating the motive for the attack
forms part of the police investigation. The suspect/s are yet to be arrested.
