Two men were shot and killed in separate incidents in Lavender Hill on Monday morning.
The first incident took place at about 6a.m in Eltister Road.
‘’Steenberg police responded to a shooting incident on
2025-05-12 at about 06:00 at the back of a premises in Eltister Road, Lavender
Hill. On the members arrival they found the body of a 20 year old male with two
gunshot wounds to the chest. Circumstances surrounding this incident are under
investigation. He was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel,’’
said Captain F.C Van Wyk, Western Cape police spokesperson.
Hours later, a 27-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded
in Grindle Avenue. Van Wyk says the deceased was found laying on a pavement.
‘’Steenberg police registered a murder case following a
shooting incident on 2025-05-12 at 07:30… According to reports police members
on duty attended to a shooting incident at the mentioned address. On arrival
they found the deceased laying on the pavement with a gunshot wound to the
head. Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation. He was
declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel,’’ said van Wyk.
Police believe that the motive behind the two murders is
gang-related.
