Man fatally shot in Westridge, Mitchell's Plain

Mitchells Plain police are investigating a case of murder after a 24-year-old man was shot and killed in Westridge on Wednesday morning.

Police said the incident occurred on Simonsig Avenue.

‘’The members received a complaint of a shooting incident at the mentioned address, and on their arrival, they found the body of a male dressed in brown tracksuit pants and a blue hooded top, with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, stomach and hands. The person was deceased and declared dead by paramedics on the scene due to injuries sustained,’’ said Captain F.C van Wyk, Western Cape police spokesperson.

The unknown assailant/s fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. Van Wyk says the motive for this attack now forms part of the police investigation.

Sources told Bush Radio News that the man killed was an employee at a liquor retailer in the vicinity.

Police appealed to anyone with information to call Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or alternatively use the mobile application MySAPS anonymously.
