Reward for information on slain Makhaza activist, Myolisi Magibisela

Western Cape police are offering a reward of up to R50 000 that will lead to the arrest of those responsible for the murder of Myolisi Magibisela.

The community leader and activist from Makhaza, was shot and killed in June 2025. Magibisela served as the ANC’s Ward 96 convener and the Khayelitsha zonal chairperson of the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO).

‘’Makhaza police responded to a complaint on Monday 23 June 2025. Upon their arrival at the crime scene in Hlanga Street at about 11:50, they found the body of the victim who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel,’’ said Warrant Officer Jospeh Swartbooi, Western cape police spokesperson.

Police say Magibisela was actively involved in efforts to address the prevention of Extortion and Criminal activities in the area.
