Gun violence continues unabated across the Cape Flats, with multiple fatal incidents reported over the weekend.
Authorities are probing a double murder and one of attempted
murder following a shooting incident on Sunday morning, at about 3:30a.m, in
Agnus court, in Ravensmead. The motive for the attack is yet to be determined.
‘’Two males 19 and 35 were shot and fatally wounded and a
28 year old male wounded. Police members were called to the crime scene where
they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies. The 19 and 35 year
old victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the
other victim was taken to a medical facility for medical treatment. The motive
for the attack is yet to be determined. The suspect/s fled the scene and are
yet to be arrested,’’ said Sergeant

Bishop Lavis police are investigating a suspected gang
related murder after a 31-year-old man was shot and killed just after midnight
on Sunday, in Valhalla Park
In Athlone, a man was shot and killed whilst sitting in his
car on Saturday night on the corner of Hood and Belgravia Road.
‘’Athlone police responded to a complaint of a shooting on
Saturday night, 13 September 2025, at about 23:15, on the corner of Hood and
Belgravia Roads, Athlone, where they found an adult male inside the vehicle
with gunshot wounds to his body. The victim was declared deceased on the scene
by medical personnel. The motive for the attack is yet to be established,’’
said Twigg.
A 25-year-old man was fatally wounded in Belhar on Saturday
night, in what is believed to be gang related.
‘’The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Saturday night, 13 September 2025, at about 21:30, on the corner of Waveren and Da Gama Street, Belhar, where a 25 year old male was shot and fatally wounded are under investigation. Belhar police responded to a complaint of a shooting and upon arrival on the scene they found the victim with gunshot wounds to his body. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack is believed to be gang related. The suspect/s fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. A murder case was registered for investigation,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Western Cape police spokesperson
Meanwhile, a manhunt is underway for suspects behind a
triple murder in Mfuleni that occurred on Friday night.
No arrests has been made yet in any of the reported cases. These
are just some of the incidents reported, and it seems that gun violence across
the Cape has no sign of slowing down.
