A 32-year-old man was shot and killed in Eastridge, Mitchell’s Plain, just after midday on Monday.
Western Cape police confirmed to Bush Radio News that the incident occurred in Alegro Lane, in
Town Centre.
‘’ Mitchells Plain SAPS registered a murder case
for further investigation following a shooting incident which claimed the life
of 32 year old man at about 12:10 on Monday. 01 September 2025 in Alegro Lane,
Town Centre, Eastridge, Mitchells Plain. Preliminary information reveals that
the deceased and a friend were on their way from the court enroute to a shop
when two unknown men with masks approached them and one opened fire on the
deceased who succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head. The motive for the
murder is gang-related and arrests are yet to be made,’’ said Lieutenant
Colonel Malcolm Pojie, Western Cape police spokesperson.
Over the weekend, two women, aged 44 and 49, were shot and
killed while walking in Steenberg Street, Eastridge, on Saturday around 10:41pm
when they came under attack in a hail of bullets by five unknown gunmen. Police
spokesperson, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, said the suspects fled the
scene in a Toyota Etios, which was parked nearby, adding that the motive for
this attack is believed to be gang related
On Sunday, a 29-year-old man was fatally shot in Cricket
street, Beacon valley. A few meters away on the same day, a minor was one of
three people left injured following a shooting incident in Netball street.
