Man's body found in M/Plain; newborn found in Wallacedene drain

Wednesday was a day for celebration of one’s culture and heritage, but some families are reeling after the bodies of their loved one was found in separate incidents across the Cape on Wednesday.

In Mitchell’s Plain, the body of a 37-year-old man was found on an open field next to Parkhust Primary School in Westridge.

‘’Police members were called to the crime scene where they found the victim with gunshot wounds to his body. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack is yet to be determined and the suspect/s are yet to be arrested,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Western Cape police spokesperson.

Mitchell’s Plain are probing a murder.

A man was shot and killed in Khayelitsha on Wednesday afternoon.

‘’Harare police responded to a complaint of a shooting on Wednesday afternoon, 24 September 2025, at about 12:30, in Ntlazane Street, Harare, where they found the body of an unknown adult male who sustained gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack is yet to be determined and arrests are yet to be made. Harare detectives are investigating a murder case,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Western Cape police spokesperson.

Kraaifontein police registered a concealment of birth case for investigation after the body of a new born baby girl was found in a sewerage drain in the Vosho informal settlement, Maroela Road, Wallacedene.

‘’On Wednesday morning, 24 September 2025, at about 09:27, Police members attended to the crime scene where the baby was pointed out in the drain. The baby was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have been made yet,’’ said Twigg.
