Gun violence continues across the Cape Flats

 An elderly woman is amongst those caught in the crossfire as bulletins rung across the Cape Flats on Sunday.

Police confirmed to Bush Radio News that the incident occurred in Beacon Valley, Mitchell’s Plain.

‘’Mitchell’s Plain police responded to a complaint of a shooting on Sunday morning, 26 October 2025, at about 08:30, in Tennis Street, Beacon Valley, and upon arrival on the scene they found a 70 year old female who sustained a gunshot wound to her stomach. The victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and arrests are yet to be made. An attempted murder case was registered for investigation,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Western Cape police spokesperson.

Two hours prior, a man succumbed to injuries and four others were left wounded after gunmen opened fire in Lotus River.

‘’Grassy Park police responded to a complaint of a shooting on Sunday morning, 26 October 2025, at about 06:00, and upon arrival on the scene they found five males who sustained gunshot wounds to their bodies. A 32 year old male was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims between the ages of 18 and 42 were transported to a medical facility for treatment. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation. The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. Murder and attempted murder cases were registered for investigation,’’ said Twigg.

He said additional SAPS deployments, Law Enforcement and Metro Police are in the in Grassy Park policing precinct conducting crime prevention initiatives to combat gang related incidents.

No arrests has been made in any of the incidents but police urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10 111.
