Tributes are pouring in for a matriculant from Mitchell’s Plain, who was gunned down on Saturday afternoon in Beacon Valley. Abdul Muizz Diedericks,18, was shot and killed in Judo Street when he was approached by unknown gunmen
Police confirmed that Mitchells Plain detectives are
investigating a murder case.
‘’Mitchell’s Plain police attended to a complaint of a
shooting on Saturday, 11 October 2025, at about 15:15, in Judo Street, Beacon
Valley, and upon arrival on the scene they found a 18 year old male who
sustained gunshot wounds to his body. The victim was declared deceased on the
scene by medical personnel. According to reports the victim was approached by
armed suspects who shot him before fleeing the scene. The motive for the for
the attack is yet to be established,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Western Cape
police spokesperson.
The school where Diedericks attended, Portland High School,
took to their Facebook page to extend their condolences to the learner as the
comments section was flooded with heartfelt messages, with the matric exams looming.
“Our heartfelt
condolences to the family, his friends and the broader school community. We
have lost one of the sons of Portland High. We are saddened by the fact that we
live in a community where none of our children are safe.
