After serving 19 of her 28-year sentence for orchestrating her husband Taliep Petersen's murder, her parole hearing takes place today. This is the second time in just over a year that she's appearing before the Correctional Supervision and Parole Review Board.
She was given a parole placement date in September 2024, but the decision was referred for review following an objection from Taliep's family.
Speaking at a community meeting in Athlone earlier in November, Najwa's son, Sulaiman Effendi, said should his mother be released on parole, he'll make sure she complies with her parole conditions.
