Shots fired at passengers while being a taxi in Macassar



A man escaped death and injury while being inside a taxi as gunmen opened fire and killed the driver in Macassar.

Three other people were wounded during the incident.

On Monday on Magdaline Gilla Road gunmen travelling in a bakkie fired shots at the taxi driver. Sadly a 36-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other 3 victims were transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The motive for the attack forms part of the  investigation.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg said “The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Monday afternoon, in Magdaline Gilla Road, Macassar, where a 36-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded, and an adult female and two adult males wounded are under investigation,” Twigg said. “Macassar police responded to a complaint of a shooting and upon arrival on the scene, they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies.

According to reports, a case of murder and attempted murder have been made.
