Government changes tack on TAC
The health ministry has reversed a decision to bar the country's top Aids activist group from a major United Nations forum on the epidemic. The ministry has issued a list of groups invited to take part in the General Assembly Special Session on Aids, or UNGass. It includes a representative from the previously excluded Treatment Action Campaign. The ministry earlier said the TAC would not be invited because of concern over its position on HIV. TAC spokesperson Nathan Geffen declined immediate comment and said the group was still trying to figure out what was going on.
