Two arrested for car hijacking

Two suspects have been arrested in Goodwood for an alleged car jacking in Mowbray.

The two allegedly posed as commuters in a metered taxi, when they overpowered the driver and forced him out of the vehicle on the M3 highway.


Yesterday morning , the victim received information from a fellow Taxi Driver, to contact a certain person who will be able to provide him with information surrounding the whereabouts of his vehicle in exchange for R13 000.


The complainant then made contact with the so called “informer”, who told him that in exchange for thirteen thousand rand he will be able to provide him, with information about his vehicle.

“The complainant then immediately contacted SAPS Mowbray and together with members from the Provincial War Room, the necessary observations were held, and at about 12 o'clock, police managed to apprehend a suspect at the Vasco Railway Station ,” said Captain Angie LAtchman.

Follow up investigations then led to a further arrest near the vicinity of the Parow Railway Station.

The stolen vehicle a white Mazda 323 was also recovered.


The arrested suspects will make a court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates Court, on Friday.
