Dozens of people have been left homeless following a devastating fire in the Masiphumelele informal settlement in the Cape Peninsula.
The fire happened in the early hours of this morning.
Head of the Cape Town Disaster Risk Management Centre Wilfred Solomons-Johannes says numerous shacks have been destroyed by the fire that broke out at about midnight.
Fire fighters and 30 emergency vehicles from 17 areas were sent to the scene.
