President Jacob Zuma says he boycotted an international Paris conference on Libya's future because he is not happy with Nato’s military intervention in the troubled country.
Speaking during a state visit to Norway, Zuma took issue with Nato’s use of airstrikes after the United Nations implemented a no-fly zone in Libya.
The President also charged that individual countries had taken the lead on Libya's future. He reiterated that the United Nations should be working with the African Union to create a new Libya.
In Zimbabwe, Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara dismissed rumours that Muammar Gaddafi was already in the country.
But he said the leader-in-hiding was welcome in Zimbabwe to ensure a smooth transition in Libya.
Mutambara said it was sometimes a necessary evil to harbour what he described as “some unwanted characters” to facilitate transition.
