Lusanda Bill
02 November 2011
Government is said to be planning to spend 137-billion-Rands to modernise the country’s rail infrastructure.
It is hoped that better rail services would make commuting and travelling cheaper and safer.
Passenger Rail Agency chief executive Lucky Montana is quoted as saying Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan could announce the first part of the finance package in his next year’s budget in February.
Montana is of the opinion that the huge amount will all come from government as private funding will be unaffordable.
