The Department of Home Affairs today said it is studying the ruling made by the Western Cape High Court on Monday regarding the implementation of the new immigration regulations.

The wife of Brent Johnson and the husband of Cherene Delorie were both denied entry into the country as they were declared undesirable.

The judgment will allow for the spouses to return to the country pending reasonable terms and conditions laid out by Home Affairs.

Meanwhile People Against Suffering Oppression and Poverty Braam Hanekom has welcomed the judgment.

Braam Hanekom said we think the rule of law is extremely important we believe that the Department of Home Affairs has to re-think some of the processes that they have been following.

“We believe that going forward the Department of Home Affairs will ensure that are more careful around implementing any policy changes or amendments to acts that manage our migration system Hanekom added.
