Western Cape Premier Helen Zille in a statement said the murder of policemen is one of the most serious crimes that can be committed in any democracy.

This follows the murders of three police officers in Nyanga and Mfuleni on Monday.

Zille said the murder of a policeman on duty is a crime perpetrated against every law-abiding citizen of this country.

Premier’s Spokesperson Michael Mpofu said one thing that must be made clear is that there is a zero-tolerance approach to any kind of murder.

“Therefore we encourage members of the public who have any information to come forward and assist the police to obtain theses suspects” Mpofu added.
