UWC goes unorthodox through virtual graduation

The University Of Western Cape (UWC) held its first graduation for the year - unprecedented and unconventional.
Due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the institution had a virtual graduation on Tuesday.
Myriads of graduates turned to YouTube as the university celebrated the students through technology. UWC hosted a 30-minute event that kicked off at 10 a.m.
On their YouTube page, UWC said: ‘’students look forward to this day when they can share their achievement with loved ones and receive their certificates proudly.”
The university says it hopes to hold a physical ceremony for graduates who may wish to attend. UWC is celebrating 60 years of existence this year.
Meanwhile, other universities such as the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University, have suspended or cancelled ceremonies.
