Solomon Makosana, president of the Western Province Cricket Association, died on Friday at the age of 58. He had been ill for sometime.
He became president last year after his predecessor, advocate Norman Arendse, was elected vice-president of the United Cricket Board (UCB) - renamed Cricket South Africa at its annual meeting last week.
He served two terms on the UCB board, first as one of the three nominated african delegates and later ex-official as senior administrator of Western Province.
He served cricket in Cape Town's townships, mainly at Langa, both as player and administrator for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam, and four children.
