Tip-off of planned assassination in Cape Town

Dumisani Ximbi, safety and security mayoral committee member, had to be rushed out of a public meeting after he a tip-off was given that assassins were on their way to kill him.

He was at Site B Khayelitsha, addressing concerns of the local community when the warning was given. A reliable informant from the metro police is reported to have given the tip-off information.

Security measures are being taken around the multiparty government. Wesley Douglas, council spokesperson, told the News24 that Dumisani Ximbi has been taken into safety by the VIP protection unit.
