Minister of Transport and Public Works Marius Fransman, along with Education Minister Cameron Dugmore will on Monday inspect six newly built schools in Khayelitsha and Delft.
“The schools were built late last year to ensure that when learners start on Wednesday, they get new classes in a safe and secure environment,” says Media Liaison Officer for the Department of Transport and Public Works, Eric Ntabazalila.
He adds that as the Department of Transport and Public Works, they have heeded the call of President Thabo Mbeki last year that says ‘no learner should learn under a tree’.
“Over the past two years we’ve been building schools all over the province. And we are proud to say that in this province, no learner learns under a tree,” says Ntabazalila.
The Ministers together with senior officials from two departments will start the inspections at Manyano High School in Ilitha Park.
