At an Imbizo which took place in Ravensmead on Wednesday evening, MEC for Transport and Public Works Marius Fransman said that his department will review the selling of public land an eye in the favour of affordable housing.

MEC Fransman had made this decision after he was giving many responses to questions at the Imbizo in Ravensmead on Wednesday evening.

The Imbizo which was attended by 600 members of Ravensmead had raised their concerns around many issues troubling them.

According to spokesperson for the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport Mandla Yeki, the residents were mainly concerned about empty school building in the area, prompting that the community wishes to use these buildings for business purposes.

“MEC Fransman replied that the issue of empty school buildings is a matter of extreme importance and he will give the urgent attention it deserves and that the submissions and proposals in this regard will be reviewed soon taking into account their concerns,” says Yeki.

The Imbizo was attended by MEC for Cultural Affairs and Sport Whitey Jacobs and Community Safety MEC Leonard Ramatlakane.
