Taxi violence in has left three taxi drivers injured after a group of men had opened fire at a Mitchells Plain taxi rank on Saturday morning.
The clash follows after tension between the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association and the Mitchells Plain Taxi Forum had become violent.
According to police spokesperson Billy Jones the tension between the taxi organisations da left three taxis vandalised and a man injured.
Jones said that police were alerted that occupants in a Toyota Cresside had pulled up next to a taxi in Lentegeur and fired shots from their vehicle at the taxi. The taxi driver who was the only occupant in the taxi was not injured.
Three male occupants were arrested after police spotted the getaway car at the Promenade Mall.
In another incident on Saturday morning shots were fired by five occupants from a Toyota Venture several shots were fired at the Mitchells Plain taxi rank.
"They got out and fired several shots towards the taxis, as a result, three drivers were injured," says Jones.
Two men were arrested near the rank and the drivers were taken to a nearby hospital in a serious condition.
