Escalating petrol price affects the Western Province Blood Transfusion Service

The Western Province Blood transfusion service says it will definitely be affected by the recent rise in petrol price.
The petrol price has again increased by up to 75 cents per liter. Because of this, mobile clinics may have to come to an end.
The most recent increase comes while the service is struggling to replenish diminishing stocks.
According Marika Champions from the WPBTS, the service is especially low on stocks of the O and B blood groups.

“Currently we have a shortage in both the group O blood as well as the group B blood group. So anyone who is either one of those two blood groups should please try and find out where their closest blood donor clinic is so that they can come and donate blood. It is true that one blood donation can definitely save more than one life, up to three or four even.”
She urges Capetonias to help those in need by donating blood.
