A shack fire in an informal settlement in Hout Bay left at least 80 people homeless.
The fire at Mandela Park squatter camp started at around 10am on Tuesday morning and gutted at least 20 shacks.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze but it is still unclear what sparked it.
Emergency services officials were at the scene to provide relief to the affected families.
No one was injured during the fire.
Disaster Risk Management’s spokesperson, Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said they are on site busy co-ordinating the disaster relief efforts.
“So we will provide them with food, blankets and with building material.”
