The Department of Minerals and Energy confirmed that it was working on proposals to increase the power supply in the country.
The department was meeting with energy supplier Eskom about power supply issues as the Koeberg Power Plant was out of service.
Koeberg’s Unit 1 was shut down for maintenance while Unit 2 was shut down as it encountered technical difficulties.
The department insisted that until new energy sources were installed, South Africans should continue to save power
