As IEC official Granville Abrahams addressed the media and political parties in the final media briefing for the evening, voting results started trickling in at the Results Operations Centre (ROC).
Abrahams explained the seat allocation calculation before political parties contesting in the Province began making rough estimates.
According to the IEC, votes were counted at 1541 voting stations, before being captured in 31 capture venues and finally sent to 10 results centres across the country. Once results are captured and audited they are sent back to the ROC.
The ROC was almost silent, eagerly watching as exit polls were displayed on the two big screens.
