Three Somalian nationals were shot and one killed on Saturday in Delft when they were accosted by three armed suspects who demanded entry by opening the shop's burglar gate, which was locked from the inside. The Somalian inside heard the commotion and hid himself inside the shop, whilst the ones outside had no means of access.
“The robbers became agitated as they could not obtain access and fired indiscriminately at the four shopkeepers. 30-year-old Abdul Mohammed Sabir was shot in the chest, 26-year-old Abdul Kadar in the chest and neck and 25-year-old Libaan Kadar was shot in the legs,” said SAPS spokesperson Captain Joe Wilson
According to reports Abdul Sabir died as a result of injuries sustained, whilst Abdul Kadar was taken to hospital in a critical condition. Libaan Kadar fortunately suffered a non life-threatening would to his legs.
“Following leads and information provided Delft Detectives were able to arrest two suspect and three hours later, arrested three more. The five suspects are currently being detained and would appear in Bellville Court on Wednesday 15 April 2009,” said Wilson
Police are investigating a case of armed robbery and murder and ask anyone with information the Delft Police on (021) 954 9000.
