Businesses in Long Street have welcomed the City’s decision to clamp down on illegal parking in the city centre.
Chief inspector for the City’s Traffic services, Merle Lourens, said the department has been inundated with complaints about illegal parking and said they will increase patrols in the area.
Lourens also urged motorists to comply with the law or else they will face the consequences.
“Long Street, especially in the evening, is quite busy as this is a location where they host an array of restaurants and nightclubs and other businesses and we will be using a zero tolerance approach to illegal parking.”
