A one-year-old boy was killed when he was struck by a train at Faure station near Somerset West.
It is believed that the boy was left unattended when the accident occurred.
“The accident happened today at around one’ o’clock when the boy was playing near the train station it is still not clear where was the mother when the baby died” said police spokesperson Susan Jantjies.
The name of the boy has not yet been released.
