The Transport Department has again emphasised that fatigue plays a big role in road crashes.
Spokesperson Logan Maistry says more than 600 people have already been killed on South African roads this month.
The department continued to appeal to motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads.
Maistry warns against drinking and driving, excessive speed and dangerous overtaking of other vehicles.
