The City has urged the public to again make use of ‘Free Fridays’ on the MyCiTi IRT bus service following its successful debut last week.
Last week Friday 2115 free rides were tallied.
Free rides will be available from 00h00 on Frriday morning till midnight, as well as next week and the week thereafter.
The MyCiTi service was implemented specifically for the World Cup tournament and the City has encouraged Capetonians and visitors to utilise the bus service.
“The City wants residents to experience this service as it offers a taste of the public transport system envisaged for Cape Town,” says City spokesperson Kylie Hatton.
Rides on the inner-city loop cost R8.00 per trip. A permanent shuttle service, priced at R50 a ride, is in place between the Civic Centre and Cape Town International Airport is also in operation, at R50.00 a ride.
