In the past few days Kya Sands in Johannesburg has been the place where police presence has been strongly felt.

With raiding mobs targeting small shops which are owned by foreigners and eleven people being assaulted on Monday and Tuesday.

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF), police and metro police officers patrolled Kya Sands last night, due to the attacks on foreigners which have been happening lately. The police had a quite night with no real incidents taking place.

Brigadier Govindsamy Mariemuthoo was quoted as saying “I can confirm that everything is quiet, peaceful and there were no incidents overnight”.

The police will still be on a high alert to make sure that the peace and calm is maintained at Kya Sands.
