The SABC board has reportedly threatened to walk out if group chief executive Solly Mokoetle refuses to quit.
The board is apparently unhappy about what it regards as the irregular appointment of Phil Molefe as head of news at the corporation.
Board chairperson Ben Ngubane and Mokoetle are being held responsible for Molefe’s appointment.
Mokoetle also has to explain the paying of a R1000 so-called “World Cup bonus” to all employees, while the SABC is struggling to stay afloat.
some members of the board told media that the decision by Mokoetle to give R1 000 to all employees for delivering a successful coverage of the World Cup was not in line with efforts to reduce costs in the shortest time possible.
