This weekend has been a bloody weekend on our country’s roads with at least 30 people being killed.
The 30 people include 19 people who died in a head-on collision between a mini-bus taxi and a bakkie in KwaZulu-Natal.
Minister Sibusiso Ndebele says as part of the ‘Make Roads Safe’ Campaign two motorists who exceeded 170 kilometres per hour were arrested and detained. More than 700-hundred vehicles and drivers have been stopped and checked and thousands of fines issued for various traffic offences.
Transport spokesperson Logan Maistry said “We want to express our condolences to the families and relatives of all those who lost their lives on the roads over the past weekend.”
