Western Cape Social Development MEC Patricia de Lille has urged fathers to take responsibility for their actions.
De Lille said this after a 28-year-old woman from Philippi allegedly poisoned her two children aged eight and 14-months-old.
It is alleged that the woman went to ask for food money to the children’s father and he refused.
The14-month-old baby died, while the eight-year-old is recovering in hospital.
This follows two incidents in Khayelitsha, where two babies were found abandoned and killed.
Meanwhile, an autopsy has been done on an infant found dumped in a drain.
The police can confirm that it was in fact a boy bu the cause of death is still unclear.
De Lille says she does not condone the women’s actions, but men need to start taking responsibility.
