Another suspect sought in connection with the killing of 10 people in Shongweni and Mariannhill was killed in a shootout with police last night.
Members of the organised crime unit were tipped off that Khetha Bhenjani Nxele was hiding in the area.
The police found him at around 22:00 and he opened fire.
Nxele’s brother, Philani Nxele, also a prime suspect in the killings, was also shot dead by the police when he allegedly opened fire on them last month.
Police believe the Shongweni killings where ten people were killed and the Mariannhill killings where four people were killed are linked and that they were pure criminality.
