One of the accused in the illegal kidney transplants at Durban's St Augustine's Hospital has pleaded guilty and fined R50 000 in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court today.

Samuel Ziegler’s five-year sentence was suspended when he admitted to magistrate Kim De Freitas that what he did was illegal and that it had contravened the Human Tissues Act.

De Freitas has said that she was very pleased to his admission of guilt.
