The National Union of Mineworkers has called on the Department of Mineral Resources to launch an investigation at Mponeng mine following the death of a missing mineworker.
The mineworker who went missing on Monday at Anglogold‘s Mponeng mine outside Carletonville, has been found dead.
The supervisor allegedly got lost underground and the search and rescue team were unable to locate him yesterday.
Meanwhile, another mineworker has died at Rand Uranium‘s Ezulwini mine, earlier today.
NUM says he died after a fall of ground at the mine.
The union added that they regret the deaths and the ever increasing fatalities in South African mines.
