As part of the Safely Home Campaign in which random roadblocks are carried out by traffic officials, a SA Roadlink bus was impounded at the N2 Weighbridge in Somerset West on Wednesday night.
The double-decker bus carrying 47 passengers was taken off the road for operating without a valid permit.
Western Cape MEC for Community Safety Albert Fritz said, “We cannot afford the fatalities on our roads.
“The fact that we actually caught that bus is an indication of our proactive approach for this coming festive season.
“We are very serious and will not tolerate any form of illegalities as well as a zero-tolerance approach towards road safety this season.”
