A woman narrowly escaped death when a gas exploded in her kitchen.
69-year-old Winfred Willoughby was cooking dinner at her home in Heideveld when she reportedly noticed a gas leak.
She reportedly called her children for help when she noticed the leak but the gas exploded before they could do anything.
The woman has reportedly suffered third-degree burns while her children suffered second-degree burns and are all in a serious condition.
ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser said paramedics worked hard to stabilize the mother and the family was taken to Tygerberg Hospital.
