No trains are running in the Western Cape due to a labour dispute between Metrorail and train operating staff.
Western Cape Metrorail spokesperson Riana Scott says, “Employees are protesting against the introduction of changes to the shift roster which was part of the agreement when they received their salary increases.”
“The workers want to work two shifts instead of three shifts to service their clients better,” she added.
About 600 000 commuters make use of the train services.
