The worst hit flood areas in the country are to be declared national disasters, government said.
This comes as hundreds of people are trapped as the water levels at the Orange River continue to rise.
Government have called in the army to assist part of Upington in the Northern Cape that’s flooded.
Meanwhile power utility Eskom spokesperson Hilary Joffe says the floods have interrupted coal transport.
