Four road freight unions say they will continue with nationwide truck driver strikes if their demands for a 20-percent wage increase are not met.
The strike has been spoiled by reports of violence and intimidation of non-striking workers.
Police reportedly used rubber bullets on strikers yesterday to disperse the situation in downtown Johannesburg.
Fuel retailers have expressed their concern that service stations may not be able to get their normal supply of fuel as a result of the strike.
Meanwhile, commuters in Johannesburg and Pretoria face further transport disruptions today.
The Johannesburg Metrobus strike still continues and all services in the city have been suspended.
More than 130 drivers from the Tshwane Bus Services will appear before a disciplinary committee for embarking on an illegal strike last year.
Commuters have been encouraged to make alternative transport arrangements.
